Who ran 10 miles? This girl! - Adventure Wenches

Who ran 10 miles? This girl! 4

Today I got up and ran 10 miles!  Oh yeah, and I should mention that I got up at 5 am to do it!

Both are tremendous feats for me.  My longest run to date and earliest run to date.  I am not a morning person.  I have always disliked getting up before I absolutely have to.  I have always admired people that got up early and got their workouts in or things accomplished, but it wasn’t for me….but maybe that’s changing.

When summer temps and the humidity started climbing, going early became a necessity.  It was not fun to run in high humidity and 95 degrees.  So there’s been quite a few 6:30 am runs.  And our Saturday group run is at 7:00am.  But meeting at 5:30…it’s still dark!

But it was great and I’d totally do it again!

All smiles after 10!

Now I’m chilling out with my new compression socks on, trying to get motivated to pack to head to the lake for the weekend.  My family is all coming up for some fun in sun and good times together.

New Procompression socks! In purple of course.

Are you a morning person?  Have you always been that way or did you change at some point?

Awesome job on the early long run!

I didn’t used to be a morning person, but I’ve kind of become one by default. For me, running in the evening became a major inconvenience and took away from family time. It also hung over my head all day as something I had to do.

Running in the morning has been a real game changer for me. I’m usually out the door by 5:30am and for most of my runs, I’m back before everyone is up.

Love being up and awake to see the sun come up – which doesn’t always mean I’m out for an early run. It helps if you’re running with a group and they’re expecting you to be there.

I usually run in the afternoons but when I have a long run like yours, I sometimes do it in the early morning. I’m running 10 miles tomorrow as well! Way to go!

    You go girl!!
I often get up to run at 5, but after a quick look outside I always get right back into bed. It’son my TO-DO list, though.
