Back to the small town of Panama. Not the country. See this post for our first adventure in Panama.
After the last Adventure race and in preparation for more of them, we need to bike more. A lot more. So we signed up for a 15 mile bike event. There was also a 35 mile choice.
We started off last and stayed there. We were not participating as a race, but the group ride to get out there and put some miles on the bikes. Again, those back country hills kill me. Burn, baby, burn.
There are not many female participants in these events. It wasn’t a huge crowd, but I think I saw 2 or 3 other girls besides us.
I don’t think we were back for more than 10 minutes when the first 2 35 milers rolled in. Really?! But one of my friends got 2nd place in the Men’s Cyclocross division and another got 1st in the Men’s Mountain Bike. Way to go!!
I’m still not even sure what a Cyclocross bike is.
We got some food and chatted with some of the others. My friend checked out a fat tire bike. It’s almost as big as her!
We plan on riding together at least once a week and are going to get out to some of the singletrack trails to get some experience. It’s been years or never for us other than riding on groomed limestone or concrete trails.
Have you participated in biking events? Any tips on improving our bike handling skills?
How fun…I wish I were a regular bike rider. I have never heard of a Cyclocross bike, nor can I even pronounce that word LOL…:)
Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry recently posted…San Francisco and “The Color Run”… Amazing
I used to bike more regularly before kids, but since then it’s mostly consisted of stop and go around the neighborhood with them. I definitely need to spend more time with it!
