And now what? 1

What’s next now that I have done something I didn’t think I could?

Do it again, of course!

I have a couple of goals I’m working on now.

First up is focusing on losing some weight.  Although I’d heard the rumors, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t lose anything (even seemed to gain a couple), while training for the half.    Not cool.  It’s got to go!!  And for me, that means exercising consistently and watching what I eat consistently, and more.   I’ll share a little of what I do for both in future posts.

Second up…..

I want to run another half.  The Lincoln Marathon is in May and it sells out every year.  For being a small town in Nebraska, it does a great job.  They will have 12,500 participants this year.  I really felt like I left some on the table this first go round, and now I want to do more.  I will try to get in as soon as registration opens up.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on strength and yoga to help out my knee and getting out there a couple times a week for a couple miles.  I ran a 4 mile trail run a few weeks ago, and it was painful.   I’d like to stay at being able to run 5 miles any given week.   Next weekend, I’m doing a Ugly Sweater 5k with some friends.  Should be a good time!

What are your winter plans?  How has running and weight loss worked for you?

I just ran my first half on Sunday, and now I’m in a bit of a funk. Not sure if it’s just post-race blues, or if it’s because of the loss of Oscar or a combo of the two, but I’m giving myself a few days to figure things out. I have the ZOOMA Florida half in January so I have to keep training, but what harm can some time off do?

I’m not really concerned about weight loss (although I have lost weight) but running has been fantastic.
