Oh this running stuff is starting to add up….and I keep wanting more!
We had a gear clinic the other week for Team in Training. What!? More stuff I need?
Body glide – for chafing. I don’t really think I need to say more than that. I don’t have any personal experience with it at this point, but I bought some.
New shoes – I am going to our local running store later this week to see about running shoes. Last time I went to a specialist I was pregnant with my first kid (who is 9 now) and never ran. Guess I should go again. I am currently wearing Brooks PureConnect and haven’t had any issues since I started running in them.
Visor – Bought me a new Under Armour Visor to wear on runs. Somehow, my hair still manages to frizz out and end up below it and all over the place.
Sports Bra – Bought another one.
Socks – I have some C9 Duo Dry ones from Target, but I’m not sure if they are what they were talking about at the clinic. There seems to be a dizzying array of technical socks. Lightweight, low, low-tab, mid-weight, compression, blah, blah, blah. No idea what to get in the sock department. Ideas on where to start?
Shorts – I’d really like some shorts for summer training but I don’t have the legs for them. If there any suggestions for great shorts for those of us blessed with bigger thighs, please let me know! And really, when looking it up….do they have to call it “chub rub”, like it’s not bad enough I have to worry about it, let’s give it a totally demoralizing name too.
Now, for what I really want, but can’t justify getting right now. I’m enjoying this process, but still feel pretty new to be buying things that aren’t necessary. I am currently using my phone with an armband for music and my Runkeeper app to see my pace, time, and distance. I’m slow, but improving and I like to see it! I’d love to have one of these for group runs or races when I’m not running with music too.
