Do you Yoga? 1

Yoga.  I really like yoga.  I like doing downward dog and cobra pose.  I have a short little sequence that I like to do but I don’t do it often enough.

Love the strength and balance.

Not me in that picture!

Yoga improves balance, strength, range of motion and flexibility.  And I really need the flexibility.  I’ve never been very flexible and it’s not getting any better as I get older.  I could use some more balance and strength too!

There’s so many different kinds of yoga as well.   Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bikram, and Iyengar

I think this site has a good explanation of the different types.

Types of Yoga

I’d like to do more, but I don’t really know where to start.  At this point in my life, I can’t really fit in going to the gym or going somewhere. With kids and other commitments, it’s just not feasible  to attend classes.

Do you have any good sources for doing yoga at home?  Dvd’s, online?  What type do you like best?  What benefits have you noticed?

My wife is the official yogi of the family, but I definitely see the benefit to my running. We usually do Bikram yoga, but that’s not to say that we don’t break out in a spontaneous yoga pose or two in our living room!
