Detoxing 2

I have been paying for too many cheat meals…too much gluten, too much soy, and probably too much alcohol.

When I have certain soy products I can get immediate stomach pains.  When I have gluten it’s more of a you’ll pay later scenario.

I am paying now.  The last 2 weeks I feel like I’m coming down with a cold.  (which is what happens when I eat gluten).  This week, I’m just dead tired.  I have zero motivation.  I don’t want to get up in the morning and I just want to go to bed at night.  This is how I used to feel most of the time.

Going gluten and soy free, plus eventually adding synthroid, has helped immensely.  But it’s summer,we’re busy, and spending weekends at the lake.  I haven’t wanted to pack a bunch of stuff since this year so far it’s just been 1 night, so it hasn’t been the best food choices.  The kids LOVE the pizza joint in the small town near our lake. We’ve been on the run so much and I’ve just caved.  Grab a pizza slice here, eating in the car there (not getting salad because who can eat that in the car?).  Biscuits and gravy in the morning at the lake when my grandparents come join us.  Just little bits here and there.

Enough!  I don’t like feeling like this.  It doesn’t help me get lean and it doesn’t help me train!  

I’ve been thinking about it all day.  Should I just go back to my regular eating plan, should I jump-start.  I’ve done JJ Virgin’s, The Virgin Diet in the past with great success….other than not adding the foods back in as she recommends.

Then today, I’ve been seeing lots of twitter activity about Mommy Run Fast’s Sugar Detox.

I’m thinking about doing that now too.  Although, I need more than just sugar detox.

Do you detox?  What has worked best for you?

    I hate the term “detox” because it’s so misleading and so blatantly a marketing word intended to frighten people. If our bodies really held on to toxins, none of us would be standing. That said, I know that getting rid of sugar and dairy makes me feel better. If I go overboard, I just scale back the next couple of days.

I usually combine the sugar detox with cutting out all processed foods (including bread/pasta etc) so it ends up covering most of the gluten and soy foods too… if you’re considering the seminar, you can use code ‘sugar’ for an extra $5 off. :)
