Nothing too exciting has been going on in terms of training or events. It’s a busy time of year with kids activities and the Lincoln half is now a little over a week away. We did take a trip to the DC area a couple of weeks ago. We spent a couple of days in DC, then rented a car and went to Williamsburg for a wedding. We stayed downtown and it was so easy to walk everywhere. We walked a ton! We crammed as much as possible into our time there and saw a lot of really amazing stuff. Tour of the Capitol, Arlington Cemetary, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Wall, White House, Declaration of Independence, Star Spangled Banner, etc. We loved it!
Friday we rented a car and drove to Williamsburg. Traffic is not fun!! But we made it and spent Friday and Saturday night there. We checked out Colonial Williamsburg and then the wedding was beautiful. At a golf course along the James River.
Sunday after the wedding we took a quick drive to Virginia Beach to see my cousin! We had lunch at Rudee’s. It was a fun place to eat on the lake front.
After lunch and a walk along the oceanfront, we headed back towards DC. We stayed near Mt. Vernon and toured George Washington’s home Monday before we flew home. Highlights were the Mansion and watching a wreath ceremony at his tomb. We got the say the Pledge of Allegiance there. It was a pretty cool experience.
It had been a long time since Eric and I have gone away on a trip together and it was pretty great!
